The Royal MK is an all-analog filter pedal inspired by the preamp of the Wal MK series basses. Utilizing a resonant variable low pass filter in parallel with the pick attack circuit, the Royal MK creates a unique and unmistakable tone used in so many classic recordings.
 
The low pass filter ranges continuously from a deep dub tone up to the lower treble range. With the resonance off, you keep your core tone with the ultra highs filtered out. Turn on the resonance switch and get a powerful bump that creates a distinct resonant peak, sort of like changing the tonal characteristic of your pickups as you turn the frequency knob.
 
The pick attack circuit is a specially tuned filter that adds brightness and clarity back into your signal, with additional volume available to go much brighter than your input tone. Use the pick attack to bring life back to old strings, add presence to the mix, or add bright sizzle to your tone.
 
The gain stage matches the gain available in the original preamp, and provides a clean boost to your signal. If you do not need extra gain, keep the gain knob at minimum and the volume knob at max to have a unity gain preamp.
 
The Royal MK requires a DC power supply (not included). The DC supply should be a standard Boss style connector, center negative polarity. It can accept 9 to 24 volts. Although 9 volts is sufficient for most applications, higher voltages will provide more headroom when using the pedal with hotter signals. If you intend to use this pedal with line level signals, you should use at least 12 volts for sufficient headroom. The current draw is approximately 10 mA. A 24 volt power supply may be purchased separately.
 
The Royal MK has a true bypass switch.
