The Chimera is based off of the discontinued Schumann Lion, a CMOS distortion from the early 2000s. This unique pedal generates a thick harmonic distortion thanks to the hex inverter gain stages. The design includes two separate signal paths, a clean signal and distortion signal, mixed together at the output, making this an excellent drive pedal for bass players.
The Clean control affects the clean signal only, from unity gain to +24 dB
The Drive control determines the amount of gain in the distortion signal
The Level control determines the volume of the distortion signal
The Boost switch maximizes the gain of the distortion by a factor of 10. The Drive knob will not affect the gain with the Boost on.
The pedal requires a DC supply (not included). The supply must be at least 9V, but no greater than 18V. The current draw is 10mA. The connector must be a boss style, 2.1mm barrel, center negative polarity. There is more clean headroom in the clean path of the pedal with higher voltages, but the distortion signal is unaffected.
Chimera has a true bypass switch.
