Ascalon is an original distortion pedal that channels the iconic transistor amplifiers of the 1970s, including the Peavey F800B and Traynor TS-50B, delivering rugged and grindy saturation with a full low end and cutting top end. Ascalon was designed for bass guitar, and the lows and mids are fully present. It works great on guitar too, just dial up the tone knob to focus more on the upper spectrum and create massive industrial distortion tones.

The circuitry cascades your signal across 6 transistors, each uniquely boosting and distorting your signal into a beautiful symphony of destruction. Because the gain is split among so many amplifiers, noise is kept low, and the harmonic uniqueness is maximized, making this a rich yet surprisingly quiet distortion pedal.

The tone control is a tilt style EQ. At noon, the response is neutral. Turning clockwise boosts the highs and cuts lows, and turning counter-clockwise cuts highs and boosts lows.

The pedal requires a DC power supply (not included). The DC supply should be a standard Boss style connector, center negative polarity. The pedal can accept 9 to 24 volts. The current draw is approximately 5 mA. Higher voltages will make the pedal louder, but in general there isn't a huge difference in performance at different voltages.
